International Protection recipients: citizenship now requires 5 years (was 3)
From 8 December 2025, people granted International Protection must have 5 years of reckonable residence before applying for citizenship — up from 3 years (which applied since 2011). Applications already submitted before 8 December 2025 continue under the old rule.
